Commander's Comments - Second TermAs I begin my second term as Commander of VFW Post 3106, I do so with immense gratitude for the continued trust placed in me by our membership. The past year was a time of growth, renewal, and meaningful reconnection—with both our veteran community and the greater Vernon Parish area. I am truly humbled by the continued trust and support of our membership and community. It has been a privilege to serve alongside such dedicated individuals, and I look forward to building upon the progress we’ve made together in my second term.Last year, we reengaged with the community in powerful ways, including the proud chartering of a Boy Scouts of America Troop and Pack, helping develop future leaders while strengthening our legacy of service. We also made significant improvements to our facility—upgrading furniture and lighting throughout the building to create a more welcoming and comfortable space for members and guests alike. Additionally, we enhanced the quality and selection of beverages at our canteen, improving the overall experience for all who gather here and so much more! This term, our focus remains clear, and mission driven. First, we will deepen our community involvement, strengthen partnerships and ensure Post 3106 remains a vital and visible part of Vernon Parish’s support network for veterans and civilians alike.Second, we will continue making improvements to our facility, enhancing its functionality, accessibility, and overall experience for all who walk through our doors. These improvements are not just for comfort—they are part of a broader vision. That vision includes the development of an outdoor oasis, a welcoming space that fosters connection, reflection, and resilience. As part of this initiative, we are also prioritizing the installation of a backup generator, which will enable our post to serve as a safe haven for the community in the event of a natural disaster or state of emergency. Our goal is to provide not just camaraderie, but real-world support to our community when it’s needed most. Finally, reenforce that the VFW is at the tip of the spear in advocating for our members’ and veteran community at large’s rights at both the local and national levels. Our greatest assets in this fight are our members, volunteers, and community. Come in and see for yourself what sets us apart from the rest and become a part of our team by joining our exclusive organization!Thank you for the honor of allowing me to continue leading this incredible post. I am proud of what we’ve accomplished and excited for what lies ahead. Together, we will ensure Post 3106 remains a beacon of strength, service, and preparedness for years to come.Yours in Comradeship,Jon HudsonCommander, VFW Post 3106
